About the Plethysmograph
Each wave corresponds to a heartbeat and the amplitude to the amount of blood detected in your blood vessels. For best results, the height of the wave amplitude should be consistent throughout as shown in the figure above. If not, you should retake your measurement and make sure that your finger is positioned right under the LED lights and sensor.

Does this oximeter have an alarm? Can I set the alarm settings up or down?
Yes to both. We have upgraded the software and it now comes with an alarm. You can control its setting as desired. With the 500D, you have the ability to set the SpO2 and PR (pulse rate) upper and lower range. The alarm will set off each time the SpO2/PR value falls below or exceeds the lower/upper range. You will hear a "beep" and the respective numerical readings will start to blink.
What is the difference between 500D and 500DL models?
There are several differences between the 500DL & the 500D. The 500DL is the basic model with an LED single direction display. The 500D is the deluxe version with an OLED (organic LED) multi-directional display options. Additionally, it has the plethysmograph display - a graph that corresponds to your pulse/heart rate thus enabling you to gauge the amount of blood detected by the pulse oximeter. This version also has the sound (beep), alarm function and brightness setting.
Can the sound be turned off?
Yes. You can turn the sound off while measuring your pulse rate. Simply, press the power button to move the "*" to Beep. Hold the power button to switch from on to off and vice versa.
Can this unit be used with PEDIATRIC patients?
Yes. However, we highly recommend using our pediatric pulse oximeters instead which are specifically made for children. The finger chamber of the Deluxe Pulse Oximeter may be too big for a person with small fingers. This can affect the accuracy of the reading.
How accurate is the pulse oximeter?
The pulse oximeter is very accurate. Reading accuracy is within +/- 2%.
How high does the oximeter read? (will it read over 100?)
The deluxe pulse oximeter has the ability to display oxygen saturation level of between 35% - 100%.
How long does the unit stay on?
The deluxe pulse oximeter stays on as long as you have your finger in the finger chamber. It turns off automatically within 15-20 seconds after you remove your finger.
Does the carrying case have a belt loop or clip?
No. Please note that the item comes with a protective silicone cover. The pulse oximeter carrying case is sold separately.
Is there an app or website to analyze data? Is it apple health compatible?
No. Please note that Acc U Rate 500D simply has the ability to read data in real time. It does not record, nor does it have the ability to sync with the computer via any apps. It is not iHealth compatible.There are other devices in the market that have the ability to record and analyze data continuously.
Can I use this overnight to alarm me if my O2 goes low?
No. Please note that the 500D is not meant for continuous monitoring. For one thing, it will drain the battery power. Additionally, the alarm might not be loud enough to wake you up when you're in deep sleep. For that purpose, you might want to check some other oximeters specially made for that purpose.
Why does the listing say it's for ages 15-60? Isn't it for older adults?
Please note that this is just a suggested age range. For people with naturally smaller fingers like children or petite individuals, we suggest buying oximeter that has been specially developed for them like the Acc U Rate Pediatric Pulse Oximeter. With regards to older adults, it will work unless you have certain medical conditions. For example, the device might not give accurate readings for people with certain medical conditions like anemia, hypotension and hypothermia. If so, we suggest that you consult the doctor before using the oximeter.
Is there a recommended product to use to sterilize this device while not ruining the device?
You can simply use disinfecting wipes to clean the oximeter.
When I bought the device months ago, it worked. I haven't used it since that time. I tried it moments ago and it didn't work. What could be the problem?
It could simply be a battery problem. Please note though that the battery placement for the oximeter is different from others, in that even though the 2 springs are on the same side, the 2 batteries are still required to be installed in opposite polarity. If this doesn't work you can contact us directly and we will provide further troubleshooting options. If we cannot get the item to work again we will provide you a replacement.
